NYMEX Crude OilCrude oil futures closed above $56 per barrel Wednesday as inventory numbers indicated storage levels might be leveling off. NYMEX light sweet crude (June delivery contract) settled up $2.50 at $56.34 a barrel, while Brent crude finished $2.03 higher @ $56.15 / bbl. Today's closing price was the highest since November 14, 2008.

Natural gas futures also were up on the day, rising 27 cents (7.5%) to close at $3.88 per Million BTU. It was the largest single day gain for gas in nearly two months.

Meanwhile the Toronto stock market also rallied on the price of oil. The TSX composite rose 265.7 pts to finish the day @ 10,146.4, marking the first time since the beginning of November 2008 the market has closed above the 10,000 level. The Canadian dollar

Google Street View gives users the ability to see street-level views of streets, buildings & other landmarks from Google maps. The service has been available for some time in nine countries including Australia, Britain, France & the US but its Canadian deployment has been delayed by privacy issues.

Jim Sparrow Calgary Real EstateEarlier this week it was revealed that Alderman Druh Farrell had approached the City of Calgary's road department with a proposal to close down two of the four lanes of Memorial Drive on Sundays in August. Acting on Farrell's suggestion the City has approved closing both eastbound lanes of Memorial, between 3rd & 7th Streets SW, for pedestrian use.

According to Farrell "It's about creating a healthy city, a vibrant city and giving people the opportunity to go out and enjoy the river". Other's aren't quite as supportive of the plan. Alderman Ric McIver supports people getting out into the fresh air but says closing part of Memorial Drive isn't the answer. "There are some bad ideas and this is a very bad idea," says McIver.
