Mission Real Estate Calgary
The Mission District is an inner city neighbourhood in SW Calgary named after the first Catholic Church mission founded in Calgary. Father Doucet founded the Mission in 1875, followed by Father Albert Lacombe, who wanted to ensure an area was preserved for French language and culture. By the early 1900's, the area was annexed by Calgary, losing most of its French character.
Today this area offers trendy cafes and restaurants along 4th Street, and being within walking distance of downtown, is a very attractive area for young professionals. Mission is bounded by 17th Ave on the north side, and adjacent to Cliff Bungalow along the west. While there are some older homes in the area, the vast majority of Mission Real Estate in Calgary are condos and townhouses.
During the first quarter of 2007, 42 Mission condos & townhouses sold, with an average sale price of $350,528 and a median sale price of $308,000. The average DOM for the Mission condo sales was 33 days. There were no Mission district homes sold in the first quarter of 2007.
