Calgary: Top Real Estate Monopoly Contender

Calgarians have to step up if they want their city to be the next “Boardwalk” on the Canadian version of Monopoly. Hasbro’s new Canadian edition is going to be filled with 22 of Canada’s top cities and voting is what is going to be the factor in determining what those cities are. I am willing to bet that whatever city gets to be in place of Boardwalk will get a bump in real estate prices (don’t quote me on it though). All it takes is a few seconds and a few clicks and you can make our Calgary real estate market worth more.
Even Calgary’s Mayor, Dave Bronconnier, came out in full regalia to help push us towards our pcs in support of the Calgary real estate market obtaining that coveted Boardwalk spot. Bronconnier said to CBC that in “international and national surveys, Calgary has been named the city with the highest quality of life and economic potential, safest city and cleanest city”. He goes on to say “now’s our chance to snap up the prime real estate on one of the most popular games in the world”. It’s good to see a mayor doing his part in support of our Calgary real estate market.
Over the past few decades, Canadian Monopoly has gone through a few changes trying to appease us up here in the great white north. They have added beavers and hockey players as some of their pieces and a Mountie in the “go to jail” spot; we should thank them for not adding igloos as hotels. This is the first time we will have the cities change and a national online vote to do it.
Support our Calgary real estate market by voting at monopolyvote.ca where you will see that Calgary is number 2 so far with 36 days to go and 4.8% of the votes.
